Meramec River
Popular recreation destination for the St. Louis metropolitan area, with its scenic limestone bluffs. Best for big rafts and families with small children. It’s the "relaxing" choice.

Huzzah Creek
Premier destination for day-trip floating, with numerous outfitters and campgrounds available, particularly around the Highway 8 area.
Courtois Creek
Known for its crystal-clear water, scenic bluffs and highly regarded for canoeing and kayaking.
Recommended Local Outfitters
-
Bass’ River Resort: (Closest to Hwy V). Perfect for those who want a professional, well-organized shuttle service.
-
Huzzah Valley Resort: Best for groups looking for a high-energy, classic "Missouri Float Trip" experience.
-
Garrison’s River Resort: Great for a more peaceful, "back-to-nature" trip on the Meramec.

Essential "River Rules" & Laws
-
NO GLASS: This is the #1 rule. All drinks must be in cans or plastic.
-
Mesh Trash Bags: Most outfitters provide these. "Stash your trash" or face heavy fines.
-
No Polystyrene (Styrofoam): These coolers are prohibited because they break apart and hurt the wildlife.
The "Pro-Pack" List
Footwear
Water shoes or strap-on sandals (the river bottom is rocky!).
Sun Protection
Twice the amount of sunscreen you think you need.
Dry Bag
For phones, car keys, and dry clothes for after the float.
Cooler Tips
Pack more water than alcohol. Dehydration happens fast in the Missouri sun!
